Having a ranch bordering public lands, and maintaining a grazing lease on public lands, have become an ever tightening noose around the necks of ranchers in the West. There is very little doubt that Federal land agencies are being heavily influenced, if not controlled, by environmental groups that see man and cattle as un-natural and a plague to nature that must be eliminated. Ranching families that have depended on grazing leases for many generations are now facing senseless restrictions and hostility from land agencies that were traditionally supportive. They are not only being forced off public lands, but facing environmental regulations and controls that are also ending the rights to beneficially use their own private land.

Discouraged by the erosion of rural America, she ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. Ramona (Hage) Morrison(NV) is the oldest daughter of Wayne and Jean Hage. She grew up on ranches in northern California and central Nevada and has been intimately involved with her family’s two federal court cases and nearly 40 years of litigation involving the issue of whether or not ranchers have the right to access and be compensated for their split estate rights on federally administered lands.
Mrs. Morrison has worked for more than 30 years in the public policy arena on property rights and land use matters. Upon graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1987 with a degree in History and Economics, Mrs. Morrison served on the staff of Congressman Charles Pashayan (R-CA) in Washington D.C., focusing on California water and agriculture issues. Subsequently, she served as a lobbyist for the American Land Rights Association in its Sonoma, California and Washington, D.C. offices. After returning to Nevada in 1990, she spent five years working for the Nevada Mining Association representing the third largest gold mining industry in the world.
Mrs. Morrison was a founding officer of the Nevada Livestock Association, and served with the late Congressman Helen Chenoweth-Hage (Ret. R-ID), who chaired the organization, to lead a successful campaign to stop unlawful confiscations of livestock by the Bureau of Land Management
